EDUROAM

EDUROAM

Wireless internet access across all campuses of Boğaziçi University is provided through two separate networks: eduroam and BU_Guest.

Eduroam (education roaming) is an international network infrastructure created in 2003 to meet the wireless access needs of academic institutions, and is now used in many countries. This network is accessible both to Boğaziçi University members and to users from any institution within the eduroam federation. Users can authenticate with their institution’s username and password to connect. For detailed information about Eduroam, you can visit https://www.eduroam.org/ and https://eduroam.bogazici.edu.tr/.

Connection security on the Eduroam network is ensured through IEEE 802.1x and enterprise WPA3 encryption. This protects the data transmitted over the wireless network from unauthorized access. Users connected to Eduroam can enjoy wireless internet service without bandwidth restrictions, depending on their physical connection speed. Connection settings can be accessed at https://bilgiislem.bogazici.edu.tr/tr/internet-erisimi.

The BU-Guest network is designed to provide temporary internet access for visitors to Boğaziçi University to meet their basic and immediate internet needs.

Visitors can create a guest account using their phone number (First Name, Last Name, Turkish ID Number, Year of Birth, and TR GSM number) to gain 1-day internet access. For guests needing access for longer than one day, a user account can be created via Work Tracking System > Information Technology Department > Network Management > Guest Accounts / Connection Requests to allow connection to the BU_Guest network within the university.
